Description: |
Provide overall leadership for planning, executing,
and evaluating educational programs in relation to
ornamental horticulture and community development.
Agent will seek advice from local advisory committee
for the development of Extension programs and will
works as an integral team member of the horticulture
group. The agent will work with the City of Manning
to achieve Main Street SC status. The agent will
also assist the City of Manning and the Towns of
Summerton and Turbeville with city beautification
projects and training of city workers to maintain
existing landscapes. The performance of the assigned
responsibilities is governed by the philosophy,
policies, and procedures of the Clemson University
Cooperative Extension Service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the Clarendon County Master Gardener
Program that includes training, program delivery and
coordination of volunteer payback hours, speakers’
bureau and publication of media information. 30%
2. Develop and coordinate a plan for the City of
Manning to achieve and maintain Main Street SC
status. 30%
3. Train grounds/maintenance departments for the
City of Manning, the Town of Summerton and the Town
of Turbeville. Seek outside funds that will support
horticulture/beautification efforts. 20%
4. Address water quality and quantity issues by
educating property owners to prevent non-point
source pollution through proper use of chemicals,
pesticides, insecticides, and fertilizers. 10%
5. Agent will be responsible for Civil Rights,
Affirmative Action, and EEO compliance. He will also
be expected to keep up with financial matters in his
assigned program areas. 5%
6. Work with staff, local Advisory Council and
University personnel to meet the Mission of the
Clemson University Extension Service. Also work with
current advisory committees and associations that
include Main Street SC, Master Gardeners and city
and county beautification groups. 5% |
